Coast Guard Hockey was proud to continue their work with the Washington Capitals as they hosted their 20th annual Salute to the Military Night on Tuesday, March 15, during the game against the New York Islanders at Capital One Arena. Salute to the Military Night is an evening dedicated to honoring the men and women who have served the country in the armed forces.
In attendance for the Coast Guard were Vice Admiral Paul Thomas, Deputy Commandant of Mission Support, and Petty Officer Michael Cortese, a YN3 at the Coast Guard Personnel Service Center. Both were treated to a suite during the game alongside other members of the military, with Petty Officer Cortese receiving a special salute on the jumbotron during the game.

Auction proceeds will benefit United Heroes League, with funds being used in the Washington, D.C., area. Coast Guard Hockey proudly supports, and has previously partnered with, the United Heroes League as they actively work to ensure that children of military members are afforded every opportunity to participate in sports. The organization has provided more than $20 million worth of free sports equipment, game tickets, cash grants and summer camps to military families across the United States and Canada.
